Every once in a while, Edmonton gets a story that warms us up faster than a Double-Double on a -25°C morning. This week, that story came from one of our own Yellow Cab drivers, who turned an ordinary shift into an extraordinary act of kindness.
A Routine Ride… Until It Wasn’t
CTV News shared the story of Tejbir Badesha, who, on his regular route, spotted a woman reported missing. Instead of just thinking “huh, that’s unusual,” he stepped in, made sure she was safe, and helped get her home. No fuss. No spotlight. Just doing the right thing because someone needed help.
It’s the kind of thing you don’t expect on a Tuesday shift—but it’s precisely the kind of thing that restores your faith in good people doing good things.
Taxi drivers see Edmonton from every angle—late-night silhouettes, early-morning commutes, downtown buzz, snowy side streets. And every now and then, they end up in the right place at the right time.
This driver didn’t hesitate. He trusted his instincts, showed compassion, and made sure someone’s loved one made it home.
These moments remind us why Edmonton feels like a big city with a small-town heart. We look out for one another. We step in when we’re needed. And sometimes, the person who makes the difference is the one holding the steering wheel.
